Durable Datacenters are part of the solution and are symbiotically with other industries and are strategic to our modern society
The initiative came as a dream from an IT Executive who lives in IJmuiden, was born in Santpoort, spend his youth in Velsen Noord, had an office in Beverwijk and spend pleasant time in the beach house of his parent in Wijk aan Zee. Perhaps his happy youth in this area gives him more positive view on the IJmond and how special it is that all these industries are working together to minimise spill of by products and have been an frontrunners of efficiency and sustainability

Off course there is room for improvement, but remember waste and negative effects are first the problem of all who uses the products they produce - the efficiency and lowering the effects are theirs main concern. Closing heavy industries and moving to other countries have let to more pollution in countries not bound to firm environmental rules as the in the Netherlands. Besides you still have to cleanup and find new jobs for thousands of families. The initiative came as a dream from an IT Executive who lives in IJmuiden.
Robert Lauer says about this "I never worked for one of these heavy industries, I studied my way our of Velsen Noord and started my ICT career at Nolte Electric and Getronics in Amsterdam. But my father and many other people gave me a good understanding what is actual the beauty behind the impressive industries like Vattenfall, ENCI-CEMIJ, Tatasteel and other surrounding smaller enterprises. It was my playground doing a lot of stuff which was normal at the time, but in perspective also very special. We wandered around the railtracks, trespassing and hiding for the Hoogoven security, racing with skelters around the Hoogoven Datacenter, Motocross with our self-build Cross mopeds and much more stories to share"
